Passover Lamb

Exodus 11: 4-6
Exodus 12:3-7
Exodus 12:12-14
Exodus 12:21-23
Exodus 12:29-30

1.  God says about midnight, the firstborn would die.

Judgment -There is a time we all are appointed to die!

Hebrews 9:27
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

2. There is only one way the firstborn is not going to die.
Exodus 12:3
“Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:”
    10th Day of Nissain – They had to get a perfect spotless lamb
    14th Day of Nissain – They had to kill it.
    They had to place the blood on the door post and both sides of the door.

•    God did not say, “Just Jews or good People could apply the blood.”
•    Anyone could apply the blood to be saved.
•    The death angel was not going to come into the house and check to see if the person was a good person or not.

o    Focus on the blood; that is what God is looking for!!!!!!
o    Maybe it was a newly painted house.  And he said let’s just put the blood in a bowl. Would that work?
o    They had to personally apply the blood!!!!
(This is a good point to bring back up at the end when they are receiving Christ as their Savoir.)

Tell a story about a 13 year old boy.

Dad said, “We die if we don’t apply the blood.”

Then they had to go inside and wait.

Every 30-40minutes, the boy would say to the father, “Daddy, please go outside to see if the blood is still there.”

The father would show the boy the blood on his clothes because blood is hard to get out.

-Jews’ houses, Egyptians’ house . . . The cry is getting closer and closer.

The son is afraid.  The father said, “We applied the blood; trust in it.”

-They only thing that made the difference was the blood.

Applied to our life

1. Judgment will come some day
2. Whose blood do we need to apply?
-About 3000 years later on 10th day of Nissain (palm Sunday), Jesus entered Jerusalem.
-14th day of Nissain — The same time that all the sacrifices were being made in Jerusalem, God gave his own Lamb to be sacrificed and to shed His own blood.

3. Your Passover Lamb is already there and the bowl of Blood is already there.

4. Personally applied
We need to ask Jesus to personally put His blood on our heart’s door so that when God looks down from heaven, He only sees Christ’s blood and not my sins.

5. When I see the blood I will pass over you – God’s Promise!!!!!

Exodus 12:13
“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”

6. You might say, “Is that enough?”

God cannot lie!
Titus 1:2
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”

They only applied the blood once.

7. Will you trust in the blood alone?

Hebrews 9:22
“And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”

Moses trusted by faith in the Blood ALONE!
Hebrews 11:28
“Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.”
